LOCALISATION PAR IMMUNOHISTOLOGIE DES NOYAUX HYPOTHALAMIQUES IMPLIQUÉS DANS LA SYNTHÈSE DE L'AVT CHEZ UN INDIVIDU D'UROMASTIX ACANTHINURUS BELL, 1825 (SAURIA -AGAMIDAE) LÉZARD DÉSERTICOLE ET HERBIVORE

Uromastix acanthinurus is the only herbivorous lizard in the Sahara. Because it does no drink free water, the conservation of the water obtained from its vegetable food is necessary for survival. The hypothalamus is involved in the synthesis of an antidiuretic hormone. This hormone increases the permeability of distal and collector renal ducts. In this saharian lizard, this hormonal action in the kidneys concentrates urine, which becomes solid. The antidiuretic effect of the mammalian arginine vasopressin has been well established (Verney, 1947), but in nommamalian vertebrates arginine vasotocin (AVT), the role was demonstrated later (DANTZLER, 1967).%Des neurones immunoréactifs pour l'arginine vasoîocine (AVT) ont été démontrés dans l'hypothalamus du lézard saharien et herbivore Uromastix acanthinurus. Les présents résultats montrent que les cellules vasotocinergiques sont regroupées en noyaux pairs. Il s'agit des noyaux supra-optiques (NSO) localisés sous le chiasma optique et autour des bandelettes latérales, les noyaux périventriculaires (NpeV) et para-ventriculaires (NPV) localisés de part et d'autre du troisième ventricule et latéralement les noyaux circulaires.
