China's top 10 S & T news events in 2006

The Demonstration Project of China's Next Generation Internet (CNGI) launched three years ago has now reaped fruitful innovations and passed the examination of an expert team organized by the Ministry of Education in September, 2006. The major achievements include the successful construction and stable operation of the world's largest core network using pure IPv6 technology; the invention of a new addressing system and the transition technology from IPv4 to IPv6 Internet; the submission of seven criterion drafts to international organizations among which three are original and globally pioneering.
