Newspaper sales mixed amid economic weakness

Australian newspaper circulation figures released in April for the six months to March 30 reveal mixed results across the country. Weaker Saturday and Sunday sales were partially offset by continuing growth Monday to Friday. Meantime, an overall decline in sales of national and metropolitan newspapers was countered by further strong sales growth for some regional newspapers.
