Affandi is New Army Chief

Armed forces chief of staff Lt Gen Datuk Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor has been appointed army chief with the rank of full general as of June 14. Affandi, 56, succeeds Gen Tan Sri Zulkifli Zainal Abidin who will return to the helm of the Malaysian National Defence University as its vice-chancellor. Affandi, born in Kampung Raja Besut in Terengganu on June 20 1957, was commissioned as a second-lieutenant in the Royal Malay Regiment after graduating from the Officer Cadet School in Port Dickson on May 11, 1977.
