As the Afghan campaign draws to an end, the immense territory that was used for over a decade as a playground for drone testing will soon prove unusable to a number of manufacturers and nations as it gradually recovers its sovereignty. Indeed, while certain aircraft were on real, hard duty there, these as well as others were test-flown there, allowing some of their manufacturers to hard-stamp them "Afghanistan Proven". The fact is that many companies did not have any other choice with drone flight banned over their own home territory. Spain, for instance/ has recently realised that it had to get to grips with its legislation to enable its drone manufacturers - like Indra - to test its drones at home instead of Afghanistan.
