June 1927. Le Corbusier was exultant. Within days of taking ownership of a two-year-old four-cylinder Avions Voisin 07, he and Pierre Jeanneret motored from Paris to Geneva and back via the Cote d'Azur. Stopping at Salins-les-Bains on the way to Switzerland, Le Corbusier sent a postcard to his wife Yvonne Gallis. 'The car wonderful, flexible, it drives 10 times better than the other [his previous car, a less powerful Voisin C4]. The brakes are magnificent.'
