The range of precision in architectural construction can oscillate between the clinical operations of a robotic arm and the unpredictability of a human arm. It simply depends on project resources. Not every project reaps from the budgets that can fund the latest technological fabrication tools with the capacity to deposit the right material to the right position in space without human interpretation, mediating digital input directly into material reality. In fact, the vast majority of building output in the world is subject to low budget margins that require conventional and manual construction techniques. DL 1310, a collaborative project between Young & Ayata and Michan Architecture, operates through similar constraints.
