2010 Stockholm Junior Water Prize Generates Two Award-Winning Projects

The Stockholm Junior Water Prize national and international competitions are open to young people between the ages of 15 and 20 who have conducted water-related projects focusing on local, regional, national, or global topics of environmental, scientific, social, or technological importance. The international winner receives a $5,000 award and a prize sculpture. As a result of these competitions, thousands of young people around the world become interested in water. This year, to further encourage such interest, ITT Corporation, Black & Veatch, and Water For People are supporting two award-winning student water projects that received national titles in the 2010 competition by improving, refining, and helping implement the projects. The two teams are from Ghana and the Netherlands and will ultimately be able to implement their projects, both of which provide new insights into ensuring access to safe drinking water in the developing world.
