Aquifer storage and recovery program remedies Wichita's groundwater problems

River floodwater can be captured, treated, and safely recharged into an aquifer for stor-age for future drought or other municipal peak water needs. This article discusses the creative combination of water rights acquisition, engineering, and technology that enabled Wichita, Kan., to improve the sus-tainability of its water supply and meet the water needs of its citizens.
