The board of directors for the Kansas City (Kan.) Board of Public Utilities (BPU) recently adopted several proposed adjustments to electric and water base rates, as well as an environmental surcharge, to meet future revenue requirements for the utility and revisions to the energy rate component. Although increases will vary among customer groups based on cost of service and use levels, the BPU board finalized a 7% increase in electric base rates for 2011, 2012, and 2013.
