I would like to take a minute to thank the Departments of North Dakota, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Pennsylvania for their fine hospitality during their annual conventions this past spring. It was my pleasure to visit each Department. It is great to have Harry Neal aboard as our new National Membership director here at headquarters. He comes to us with a desire to help our numbers grow and improve our retention rate. All of you can help Mr. Neal accomplish these goals through your dedicated support to AMVETS. As I have requested in past articles, let's work diligently to improve our numbers of younger veterans. When you do get a new young member, please take time to do the little things that make one feel they've joined something special. Greet them with enthusiasm, introduce them to other AMVETS members and engage them in causal conservation. Make them feel part of die AMVETS team. At the St. Louis convention there will be a membership roundtable tentatively scheduled for Thursday afternoon Aug., 11th from 4 to 5:30. We certainly hope you'll find time to attend this annual roundtable to share thoughts and ideas. Hope to see you in St. Louis.
