Response to Sgt. Vince Rios

First, I wish to salute Retired Sgt. Vince Rios, and his letter published in the Spring issue. I would stand beside that man in Hell or High water. The number of men & women who spend a lifetime in pain and social invisibility because of their scars amazes me. Rios is one Hell of a man in my book. Around Christmas 1967, my best friend (since I was 5 yrs old) became horribly wounded. He has injuries too numerous to mention. He remembers someone saying he was "too late for Me-divac", and blindly waving his weapon telling them he was not going to die! This Marine is hassled by airport security every time he flies, because the shrapnel is still exiting his body.
