Spring is finally upon us and with the changing of the seasons comes an upswing in work across the AMVETS family of or ganisations. Right around the corner are Flag Day, Memorial Day, and, finally, Inde pendence Day-three days in which I know many of you will play a key role in showing respect and reverence to our national symbol, honoring the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of liberty, and celebrating the birth of our great nation and the brave men and women who made it possible. The last few months have been busy for AMVETS here in Washington, and I want to thank the hundreds of AMVETS, AM VETS Ladies Auxiliary, Sons of AMVETS, and AMVETS Riders members who joined us in Washington for the first "LZ:DC." It was an honor to testify before the House and Senate, oudining the legislative priori ties for AMVETS in the coming year, and to see hundreds of gray Sons of AMVETS garrison caps roving the halls of Congress, advocating for our service members, veter ans and their loved ones.
