The UK and French governments are to jointly study a Future Combat Air System (FCAS) unmanned combat air vehicle. The agreement was announced as part of a package of co-operative initiatives in the defence arena unveiled at RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, by Prime Minister David Cameron, and the French President Francois Hollande on January 31. The £120 million two-year feasibility study will see BAE Systems, Dassault and partner companies Rolls-Royce, Safran and Selex work closely together. A memorandum of understanding is likely to be signed at the Farnborough International Airshow in the summer.
