Indian Defence Minister A K Antony revealed on February 6 that the deal to acquire 126 Dassault Rafale fighters will not be signed until the next financial year due to budget constraints. Both Dassault and the Indian Air Force had expected it to be concluded by March. Mr Antony stated that 92% of the budget for this financial year had already been signed off, pushing any contract to the next. Also general elections will be held in April-May and no major contract can be signed 45 days beforehand.
