Advances in Serials Management, volume 4, published in 1992, included an interview with Michael Markwith, who was at that time Regional Manager for Faxon's Academic Service Center. The widespread introduction and use of electronic journals and a host of other advances in serials management led the editors of the current ASM volume to request another interview with Markwith, who (at the time of this interview in the spring of 1999) served as the CEO of Swets & Zeitlinger in the U.S. The resulting discussions covered, among other topics, information/background about Swets Subscription Services, staffing trends at serials vendors, pricing models, relationships with consortia, and the future viability of serials vendors.
