Through searching and summarizing the literature on R&D services, R&D industry and knowledge - intensive based services, the definition and connotation of R&D economy is analyzed based on the importance of R&D services for e-conomic growth. We compare the differences and similarities among R&D economy, R&D services, R&D industry and knowledge - intensive based services.
