The 3rd Intriational Conference on the marine biology of the South ChinaSea held from 28 October- l November l996 in Hong Kong. Prof B. Morton, the SwireInstitute of Marine Science, -the University of Hong Kong, was chosen as the convenor-l26 delegafes from l3 countries and region were invitad to participate’ lO3 papers presentad to the Conference deal with species diversity, ecosystem diversity and genetic diversityIt shows that the systematics, zoogcography, and genetics of the marine biology of theSouth China Sea have made great advances during recent years.
