Scholars pointed out that Peng Zhongshuang recorded in The Commentary of Zuo came from the family uncovered in Nanyang, who was very likely to be captured in the wars between Kingdoms Shen and Peng, and whose family members moved to Shen, where Nanyang is located now. Chu wiped out Shen later and united Peng’s family to govern the place.
