A mononuclear lead thiocyanate adduet Pb(phen)(SCN)2 (phen = 1,10phenanthroline) has been characterized by X-ray diffractometer, IR, UVVis spectra and susceptibility measurement. Structure analysis showed that the lead atom presents a unusual four-coordination geometry with a large vacancy, possibly indicating the stereochemical activity of 6s^2 lone pair electrons.
