AIM; To evaluate the effect of low concentration of Povidone-iodine ( PVP -1) as synchronousirrigation solution for ultrasonic scaling and root planning. METHODS: Three thousand two hundred ard forty sites of 45 patients with moderate to advanced chronic periodontitis were included in the study. The patients were randomly assigned to 3 groups. The control group used distilled water for irrigation during scaling and root planning. Test goup 1 and 2 used 0.5% and 2.5% PVP-I respectively for irrigation . The clinical parameters including plaque index ( PLI), bleeding on probing (BOP), pocket depth (PD)and clinical attachment level (CAL) were recorded at baseline, 1 month and 3 month after therapy. RESULTS: The clinical parameters were improved in all three groups ( P < 0.05 ) post-treatment . Test group 1 and 2 showed a better outcome compared with the control group (P < 0.05). None of the recorded parameters was significantly different between the two test groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: The results suggest that 0.5% and 2.5% PVP-I as irrgation solution can improve the ultrasonic scaling and root planning effect in patients with moderate to advanced chronic periodontitis.%目的:观察低浓度(0.5%、2.5%)聚维酮碘(Povidone-iodine,PVP-Ⅰ)取代蒸馏水作为超声龈下刮治和根面平整术(scaling and root planning,sRP)的同步冲洗液的临床疗效.方法:选择中度和重度牙周病病人45人共3 240个位点,随机分为3组,对照组用蒸馏水作为同步冲洗液进行全口超声SRP;实验1组和实验2组分别用0.5%和2.5%的PVP-I为同步冲洗液进行全口超声SRP.基线后1个月和3个月复查菌斑指数(PLI)、探诊后出血(BOP)、牙周袋深度(PD)和临床附着水平(CAL).结果:治疗后3组各项指标与治疗前比较均有明显改善(P<0.05),实验1组及实验2组疗效均好于对照组(P<0.05),但两实验组之间比较未见明显差异(P>0.05).结论:0.5%和2.5%的PVP-I较蒸馏水作为超声SPR的同步冲洗液均能提高治疗效果,两实验组无明显差异.
