AIM: To examine the effects of a combined orthodontic treatment method on patients with mal-rnocclusion and periodontal disease. METHODS: Twenty patients met the inclusion criteria were selected and treated by combined orthodontic-periodontal treatment. The related measurements were performed and the status of periodontal tissues and alveolar bone was observed before and after treatment. The treatment period lasted for 12 -18 months. The average treatment time was of 14.6 months. RESULTS: Individual normal occlusion was achieved after the treatment. The periodontal status was improved significantly (P<0. 05) after the treatment. Through the combined orthodontic-periodontal treatment, not only periodontal status could be improved, but also a stable and functional occlusion and aes-thetic outcome could be achieved. CONCLUSION: For patients with malocclusion and periodontal disease, combined orthodontic - periodontal treatment is an effective method.%目的:探讨正畸治疗对错(牙合)畸形伴牙周病的治疗作用.方法:通过对20例安氏Ⅰ类错(牙合)、深覆(牙合)、深覆盖、上下颌牙列稀疏、上颌前突伴牙周病的病人采取正畸-牙周联合治疗,并对患牙牙周、牙槽骨情况进行对比观察.治疗时间12 ～18个月.结果:20例病人的错(牙合)畸形得到有效矫正,达到个别正常(牙合).矫治结束时牙周情况较矫治前有明显改善(P＜0.05).使用牙周夹板固定保持器进行保持,可达到稳定的远期治疗效果.结论:对安氏Ⅰ类错(牙合)、深覆(牙合)、深覆盖、上下颌牙列稀疏、上颌前突伴牙周病的病人采用牙周洁治、牙周夹板、正畸联合治疗,效果良好.
