A new node architecture for a wavelengt h division multiple (WDM) packet-switched metropolitan area network based on su b carrier multiplexed addressing and wavelength conversion technology is proposed. The network operates on dual-bus topology and the tunable transmitter and fixed receiver s c heme to facilitate data multiaccess.
