Contemporary biology for college freshmen: A two semester syllabus.

摘要

A discussion describing the academic requirements of college freshman considering modern biotechnology is presented. A detailed pedagogical construct is characterized. A syllabus, comprised of two lecture sections and one laboratory/discussion section has been created. The focus of the syllabus is basic molecular biology. The emphasis of the syllabus demonstrates the intimacy of molecular biology in the lives of Homo sapiens. The course diverges from the typical biology text book and emphasizes the use of scientific journal articles and popular press sources. A suggested anthology of articles and recommendations for discussion/laboratory sessions are described.
