This study reviews the cause and effect of environmental concerns relative to the design phase, material manufacture, in situ application, and possible demolition of support column and beam retrofits utilizing composites.; Topics investigated will include, fire requirements relative to flame spread indices, personal exposure limits regarding worker safety, corrosive characteristics of materials and ionic compatibility, waste disposal of materials, recyclability of materials, and chemical matrices and their constituencies relative to hazardous characteristics. Included for review is data obtained on bonding agents used in ongoing full-scale testing in order to extrapolate information relative to any possible existing toxicity levels and future offgassing possibilities.; The overall health effects are presented including emissions and any other related hazards resulting from the development and installation using the requisite materials, in addition to any possible worker exposure risks from the manufacture through the final installation of the finished product, will be analyzed and recommendations will be submitted for review.
