This paper discusses the methodology used at Hewitt Associates to identify and implement appropriate technology applications used by its corporate real estate and facility management functions. It doesn't discuss the merits of any particular product or application. It does present an organizational approach, a universal methodology and lessons learned over a period of several years of introducing technology to Hewitt's corporate real estate and facility management functions. The reader should be able to transfer the principles presented here to his/her own situation. The methodology was used to develop/acquire systems to support the following functions: 1. Portfolio Management (CIFM) 2. Space Management (CIFM) 3. Meeting Room Scheduling/Event Management 4. Security Incident Reporting 5. Maintenance Work Orders (CMMS) 6. Preventative Maintenance Scheduling (CMMS) 7. Move Management 8. Ergonomic Evaluation and Intervention Tracking.
