In this paper, the simulation speeds of four different process simulators - BioWin, GPS-X,WEST and STOAT - are tested for a simple MLE process. In addition, more complex modelswere tested using the BioWin and GPS-X simulators. The speed tests were carried out forsteady-state and 14-day dynamic simulations. It was found that all simulators could carry outsimulations in less than 6 minutes for the MLE process. More complex models incorporatingIFAS ran much slower and the extra time required for this must be considered when carrying outprocess evaluations. Finally, it is noted that simulation speed is not the primary concern forprocess modeling, but that it is model accuracy that is of paramount importance.
