INTRODUCTION Many previous investigations were conducted on Triassic trace fossils in Jiyuan region to decipher their relationship with the sedimentary environmental conditions (Qi et al., 2007; Zhang et al., 2005). To date, however, less is known about the paleoclimatic significance of these trace fossils. Here, we present some data to show the paleoclimate inference from the evolution of two special ichnogenera, Palaeophycus and Beaconites, and trace fossil assemblages in Triassic in Jiyuan region, Central China.
