Bacteria Isolated from Dripping Water in the Oligotrophic Heshang Cave in Central China

摘要

INTRODUCTION Microorganisms might show the potential to change the chemical property of the dripping water in caves (Huang et al., 2007; Zavarzin, 2002). They are also sensitive to the climate change, which might be preserved in stalagmites. It is of great significance to identify the microorganisms in the dripping water, and figure out the functions they could carry on during the stalagmite formation, favoring to decipher the microbial lipid records recovered from stalagmites.
