Planning and Implementation of a Seismic Monitoring System for the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge in Cape Girardeau, MO

A multi-agency partnership was formed to plan, design, install and maintain a seismic instrumentation system on the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. From start to finish the project took almost nine years. Cooperation among the various agencies was key to the successful completion of the project. Real-time data from the instrumentation system is available to the public through the IRIS website.
