ACTUAL LIGHT PERFORMANCE ON NORWEGIAN ROADS

Based on field studies of luminance on Norwegian roads, the article investigates the standard of Norwegian road lighting installations. The results show that 21 % of the investigated roads had luminance levels below the current requirement, and the higher the speed limit was or higher the lighting class, the higher was the probability of satisfactory luminance levels. For the other lighting quality criteria no correlation was found between categories and the fulfilment of the requirements although the number of not satisfactory roads was high: 52 % for U_oand 78 % for U_1.
