Machines used in opencast mines like bucket wheel excavators (BWE), spreaders and others are extremely loaded structures. Interactions between bucket wheel and overburden are reflected on steel structures as vibrations. Good tuning of dynamical properties of machines is necessary to minimize the vibrations. This goes thru good design of BWE including right concept of bucket wheel and his drive for expected geological conditions. Natural frequencies belong to basic dynamical characteristics. Their knowledge not only gives us the possibility to correct tuning of steel structures of BWEs in existing machines but also it is good base for designing of new BWEs. Presented paper deals with measuring of natural frequencies of BWEs SchRs 1320 and K 2000. There are compared differences between these two types of BWEs.
