Salt pan biology is one important part of processes of making brine of salt pan and salt making of crystallization. The tradition technics on salt making only pay attention to physical chemistry mechanism but to neglect of the action of salt pan biology. Studies on salt pan biology started in China in 1980s. Many scientists and researchers have gain significant achievements and remarkable economic efficiency for more than ten years. This paper summarizes research results on improving quality and output of coarse salt because of salt pan biology and exploitation of Dunaliella salina. Spirulina. Artemia and Halophilic bacteria during the big developing period. Combining with current situation in salt industry, the paper restated significant effect of salt pan biology on enhancing integration economic efficiency in salt industry. I hope all the staff of the salt industry, especially the staff of salt pan biology, can pay more attention to the situation after reading the paper.
