FLAME RETARDANT CHEMICAL USAGE IN NORTH AMERICA: FIRE SAFETY, SOCIETAL CONCERNS AND THE FUTURE

Over the past several decades, fire codes and test standards have been implemented within North America for an increased level of safety.The benefits of rigorous fire standards include minimization of injuries and the prevention of loss of life during a fire event (e.g.commercial buildings, aviation).Fire safety requirements are met either by fire engineering methods,inherently flame retardant materials and/or FR chemical addition to combustible polymers.
