摘要

At the high temperatures prevailing in slagging gasifiers, the total ash content, the chemical and physical characteristics of the mineral matter in coal and the slag viscosity versus temperature characteristics become very important in coal selection. The literature on ash-related issues is extensive. Several parameters have been used to classify the ash behavior at high temperature by using the ASTM and the JIS ash cone melting methods. These standard test methods provide the basis for understanding the ash fusibility in coal gasification and combustion. However, the tests have limited usefulness in predicting the behavior of coal ash at high temperature. Mineral phases play an important role in the commercial gasification and combustion process, such as in gasifier and boiler erosion, ash formation and slag tapping. Understanding the properties of mineral and ash of Chinese coals will be providing a better understanding of the factors that control their performance in gasifier.
