Excessive amounts of soluble iron in a work-over and completion brine contributes to the formation of external and internal filter cakes, increases damage to the formation, contributes to the corrosion process, and is detrimental to the completion process. Therefore, the removal of iron from high-density zinc-based brines is critical.
