Use of Indigenous Technical Knowledge (ITK) by the Farmers in Bangladesh for the Production, Protection, and Preservation of Crops, Animals and Fishes

The sustainability of agriculture is usually judged at least by five criteria such as (ⅰ) ecologically sound, (ⅱ) economically viable, (ⅲ) socially just, (ⅳ) humane, and (ⅴ) adaptable. However, the use of indigenous agricultural technologies is, of course, very important at least to save the environment from further deterioration and thereby to maintain the sustainability of agriculture. For sustainable agricultural development the importance of using the indigenous agricultural technologies cannot be ignored. The study was, therefore, conducted in order to determine the extend of use of indigenous technical knowledge (ITK) by the farmers towards achieving sustainable agricultural development.
