We have demonstrated that 1530nm band can be a useful pump source for L-band EDFA. From the measurement of gain coefficient for 15dB flat gain changing the pump wavelength from 1530nm to 1560nm, we have obtained a maximal gain coefficient of 0.45dB/mW at 1545nm pump. This value is more than two times compared to those of conventional 1480nm pumping. However within 1530nm band, it is recommended that wavelength between 1530nm and 1540nm is optimal as pump wavelength for high gain and low NF. The L-band EDFA can reduce power consumption using 1530nm-band pump. We also tested the performances of the L-band EDFA for WDM signals. The flat gain bandwidth was 26nm for 1571.5 - 1597.5nm within 0.ldB excursion and 32nm for 1571.5 - 1603.5nm within ldB excursion at input signal of-l0dBm/ch.
