The increased usage of inverter drive motor systems has lead to extensive research to improve operating life of electrical apparatus exposed to partial discharges and heat generated from them in random wound motor insulation systems. The authors have been involved in a development program over the past two plus years to develop and qualify insulation systems, which show significant improvement in insulation life under high stress.
