ADVANCED COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY

Computed tomography (CT) has been a well established imaging modality for the small animal patient since the 1990's. In the new century the gaining popularity of small animal MRI has partially overshadowed the use of CT in particular for neurogical patients. In recent years however the technological advances of CT, notably helical and multi-slice technology, have opened up an entire new dimension to small animal CT. Modern CT technology allows an extremely time efficient examination of every body part with a diagnostic value that is often superior or a match to contemporary MRI procedures. This presentation will demonstrate the highly versatile applicability and diagnostic value of CT for traditional and emerging CT indications for small animal patients.
