The Centralised Component Reliability Database for PSA Purposes ZEDB - Status, Evaluation 2002, Trends -

The German Reactor Safety Commission (RSK) advised the use of plant specific reliability data for Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) and its centralised collection and storage. Hence the German utilities decided 1994 to set up a centralised database ZEDB (Zentrale Zuverlaessigkeits- und Ereignisdatenbank) for those components which are modelled in the PSAs. The aim of the centralised database is to provide generic reliability data for nuclear power plants being representative for German design and operating practice and plant specific reliability data as well. At present 19 German NPPs, one Dutch and one Swiss NPP have joined the ZEDB. The database is operated by Framatome ANP GmbH on behalf of the utilities association. To qualify the mathematical model used to evaluate the data, the mathematical model has undergone an extensive expert review as well as a benchmark exercise with the well-known T-Book. Three evaluations have been performed and published, evaluation 1999, evaluation 2000 and the recent evaluation 2002.
