A six degree of freedom model for a UAV that captures the aerodynamic-structural coupling inherent in a UAV with very light and flexible wing is developed. The model is developed from a control design perspective such that novel control algorithms can be evaluated to determine the effectiveness of the controller in suppressing the effect of the aero-elastic coupling while providing adequate tracking of a reference trajectory.
