In this paper, the problems of fault estimation (FE) observer and optimal fault tolerant controller (FTC) design for singular perturbation switched systems are addressed. Firstly, an augmented system is constructed for actuator fault, sensor fault and system state. Then, based on the average dwell-time (ADT) method and the switched Lyapunov function technique, a proportional integral (PI) observer is designed for the augmented system. Furthermore, sufficient conditions are obtained to guarantee that the error system asymptotically stable with H performance. An algorithm for the PI observer design is proposed. Finally, an optimal fault tolerant controller is engineered to ensure that the closed-loop system have optimal performance.
