摘要

The investigation of the change of a multilayer film work function of jointly adsorbed atoms of barium, scandium and oxygen on the facet (100) of a tungsten crystal at adsorption and heating has been made. The work function of the multilayer film of jointly adsorbed atoms of barium, scandium and oxygen on the facet (100) of tungsten crystal, consisting of 2-3 Ba monolayers and 2-3 Sc monolayers with an optimal doze of adsorbed oxygen when heated at temperature 1400 - 1500 K for a few minutes and then activated by monolayer of barium atoms drops down to 1.70 - 1.75 eV which is close to the work function value of scandate cathodes. On the basis of the obtained results one can assert that the work model of scandate cathodes based on the availability of scandium oxide and barium oxide crystals, activated by monolayer film of barium and barium oxide atoms, on emitting surface is preferable.
