摘要

We have found that depending on the application and degree of accuracy needed it may be sufficient to use a representative descending thoracic aorta geometry if subject-specific geometry data is not available. However, in order to definitively determine any link between plaque formation and hemodynamics, the use of subject-specific geometry is recommended. Due to the advantages of live in vivo MRI over ex vivo CT, the use of in vivo MRI to determine vessel centerline and a combination of mouse-averaged CT and subject-specific M-mode ultrasound to determine vessel radius is the preferred method for future studies into the link between atherosclerotic plaque formation and hemodynamics in the descending aorta of AR mice.
