The presented simulation method is capable of investigating whether the deployment of a given endovascular stent in a specific geometry meets the primary mechanical requirements, and can quantify mechanical deformations of the aortic and iliac vessels. Experimental validation shows good agreement with the simulation results at the proximal and distal locations, qualitatively for the stent strut location and quantitatively for the vessel diameter increase. The method is directly suited for use with human image data, and will be further expanded to also include the deployment of the contralateral iliac stentgraft.
