1) Collapse behavior of a steel moment frame is simulated reasonably. Significant deterioration at column bases due to local buckling and fracture is observed.2) The column bases survived after several cycles of large deformation up to 0.1 rad, which is much larger deformations considered in the current seismic design.3) The experimental data is used to calibrate a numerical model that traces the hysteretic behavior of column bases. The model is able to simulate the deterioration in a range of-0.1 to 0.1 rad.
