Infrared spectra of polycrystalline δ-KIO_3·HIO_3 have been studied in the temperature range from 13 to 300 K. A systematic temperature dependent study has been performed for the hydrogen bond stretching and bending vibrations. Features observed in the high frequency region of vibrational spectra of the title crystal (pronounced "modulation" in the low-frequency slopes of v(OH) and δ(OH) bands with corresponding modulation periods of 24 and 124 cm~(-1), that develops at the temperatures below 220 K) are discussed with respect to possible formation of new charge compensating protonic species in the proton sublattice.
