Many corporations have wrestled with reconciling the aims and expectations of arncorporate operational integrity program with how it is translated operationally, in order tornprove that they are not at imminent risk of a major catastrophe. Recent events haverndemonstrated that well-crafted policies and catalogued lagging HS&E performancernindicators are not enough to attain the desired future state that "all hazards and risksrnassociated with operations, processes and related equipment are identified andrncontrolled or eliminated". Husky began with a comprehensive operational integrity gaprnassessment process. The process involved: developing a tool, organizing anrnassessment team, analyzing results and preparing an implementation plan. In order torngain operational ownership of the implementation plan (culture change), a sequentialrnprocess was adhered to: set Management Expectations, further define the scope of workrnduring Deliberation sessions, and empower Action Teams to complete implementation.rnAn audit process, utilizing the same gap assessment tool, ensures continuousrnimprovement.
