Optical fiber sensor applied to detect the vibration of electrical machines

Abstract: A multi-mode fiber-optic accelerometer, based onintensity modulation, designed for vibrationmeasurement in electrical machines is presented. Thesensor shows an acceleration sensitivity of 2181m/s$+2$/; range of frequency of 0 - 600 Hz; resolutionof 0.01 g and linearity error of less than 5%. Thisaccelerometer has already been used in 100,000 kW highpower generator. The wave shape and frequency spectrumof the vibration of stator winding were recorded forthe first time in China. !5
